Obituary for James Mason Truesdale, Jr.

James Mason Truesdale Jr. affectionately known as “Jimmy” was born in Neubruecke, Germany on September 1, 1961; the youngest child of James and Gladys Truesdale. He grew up in Denver, CO and attended Denver Public Schools.

He joined the Army in 1981, and received numerous honors including a Bronze Service Star Medal. He proudly served his country for 11 years before being honorably discharged as an E5. He held many positions, and is lovingly remembered for his wit and sarcastic sense of humor. At the time of his passing, he was employed as a Human Resources specialist at Holiday Inn.

He loved serving the Lord. He grew up at King Baptist Church, and joined Living Hope Baptist Church in 2000 under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Robin Holland. It was there that he accepted the call to become a Deacon, and was the President of the Male Chorus. He absolutely adored his family, and in his spare time he enjoyed working on cars and spreading the good news.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Gladys Truesdale.

Jimmy will be greatly missed by his wife of 3 months, Mary Truesdale: his father, James Truesdale Sr., sisters, Stephanie and Norvella, and an adopted sister, Veronica Luckett all of Denver, 3 children, James O. Truesdale III, Brandon Truesdale and Danzeal Truesdale all of Denver, CO, four grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.

One of Jimmy’s greatest accomplishments was becoming a deacon. These are his words. “I believe that the calling to be a deacon is a blessing that God has placed in me. Not everyone can be a servant to God’s people. A lot have tried, but in the end have failed. It is a natural thing that has imbedded in your soul. As I read my God’s word, it speaks to me about gratitude, love, submission, grace, mercy and peace, to be sound in my faith, but most of all, I hear service. Are there things I need to improve on? Yes. The calling to be a deacon is only one small step that God has given me. My goal is to grow evermore in Christ, to study His Word, and to listen to my God for what His next move will be, and I shall be obedient to His words.

Jimmy was a faithful worker, but the time came when his labors were ended and God called him to rest, so He has called our much beloved and faithful Deacon. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 16th, 2017.

A Soldier
I am a soldier in the army of God. The Lord Jesus Christ is my commanding officer, the Holy Bible is my code of conduct. Faith, Prayer and the Word are my weapons of warfare. I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience, tried by adversity and tested by fire. I am a volunteer in this army and I am enlisted for eternity. I will either retire in this army or die in this army, but I will not get out, sell out, be talked out of or be pushed out. I am faithful, reliable, capable and dependable. When my God needs me, I am there. I am a soldier, I am not a baby. I do not need to be pampered, petted, picked up or pepped up. No one has to call me, remind me, write me, visit me, entice me or lure me. I am a Soldier! I am not a wimp. I am in place saluting my King, obeying His orders, praising His name, and building His Kingdom. No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards, candy or give me handouts. I do not need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for or catered to. I am committed. I cannot have my feelings hurt bad enough to turn around. I cannot be discouraged enough to turn aside. I cannot lose enough to cause me to quit. When Jesus called me into this army, I had nothing. If I end up with nothing, I will come out even. My God supplies all of my needs. I am more than a conquer and I can do all things through Jesus who strengthens me. Devils cannot defeat me, people cannot disillusion me, weather cannot weary me, sickness cannot stop me. Battles cannot beat me, money cannot buy me, government cannot silence me and hell cannot handle me. EVEN DEATH CANNOT DESTROY ME. When my Commander calls me from the battle field, He will promote me to captain and Heaven is where I shall stand. All glory to the God of my life and His Holy Son Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.
