Obituary for Violet Scott Coursey

Violet Jean Scott was born November 22, 1932 in Jacksonville, Texas to parents Tyree B. & Mallie M. Scott; she was the fourth child born to their union.
Violet has a sister and brother that preceded her in death, as well as her mother & father.
She attended the elementary years in Jacksonville graduating from Fred Douglas High School in 1950. Furthering her education to Prairie View AM College graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1954. After graduating, she owned and operated her Pre School Day Care in Jacksonville before moving to Denver, CO in 1957. After moving to Denver, Violet was employed at Rose Medical Center for over 30+ years as Head of Dietary Department.
Violet joined Cleaves Memorial C.M.E. Church under the leadership of Reverend L.L. Barnes. After her brother Reverend Alvin Scott became ordained in 1984, and was assigned to Pastor at St. Luke C.M.E. Church, she moved her membership.
At St. Luke she was very active serving in several ministries. She sung in the choir and was on the Hospitality Committee, served as a Trustee, and also served on the Scholarship Committee.
Violet loved the Broncos and liked talking stuff about them. She enjoyed entertaining and playing Bid-Wiz and Bridge. She loved her family and loved to travel, and she loved SHOPPING! Her shopping buddies were her cousins: late Maudie McCray, Evetta Martinez, Louise Moore, and long-time friend and neighbor Odessa Scott.
2014 she united in Holy Matrimony with her long-time friend of 64 years Burnett B. Coursey.
She leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband Burnett Coursey, one step-daughter Mary (Donald) White of Garner, NC.; one brother Rev. Dr. Alvin (Erie) Scott, Denver, CO.; one niece Faye Scott, L.A. California; four nephews: Alvin Scott, Jr. L.A. California; Michael Scott, Denver, CO; Gregory (Victoria) Scott, Denver, CO; Dwight (Carol) Scott, Denver,CO; cousins: Jean Scott, L.A. California; Freddie (Allie) Scott, Jacksonville, TX; Rev. Dr. Marcellus (Carol) Thomas, Freeport, IL; Howard Jackson, Morena Valley, California; Evetta (Raymond) Martinez, Aurora, CO; Louise Moore, Aurora, CO; George Jackson, Las Vegas, NV; Carol Bowens, Tyler, TX; and Bobbie Robinson, Arlington, TX. Special friends: Gisele McFarland, Florida; Odessa Scott, Denver, CO; and Catherine Gray, Denver, CO; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Violet you may be gone physically, but you will remain forever in our hearts.
