Nola Jean Stone May was born to her parents Henry Nathaniel Stone and Marie Ella Engle Stone on October 3, 1920 in Lawrence Kansas. She was the fifth child born to this union. Her siblings that preceded her in death were, Fordine Moore, Wendolyn Brown Smith, Winifred Coker, and Audrey C. Stone. She graduated from Lawrence Memorial High School, in Lawrence, Kansas. After graduation she remained in Lawrence with her father who built the family home at 732 Connecticut Street until she moved to Denver in 1943.

Nola was very devoted to her family and friends. She lived at Kappa Tower, 2160 Downing St., #209 from 1984 (and was one of the first residents to move into Kappa Tower) until she had a bad fall October 30, 2013. After her fall she moved to Manor Care Health Services, 290 S. Monaco Parkway until her death.
