Obituary for Marlene T. Brown

Life began for Marlene on April 4, 1935 in Denver, Colorado. She was the second child born to Ernest Horn and June C. Gaskin. Her younger sister preceded her in death.

Marlene received her early education in the Denver public schools, and graduated from East High School. In 1953, she continued her education at Wilberforce University (African Methodist Episcopal). There Marlene met and married Alfonso Brown Sr. (he preceded her in death in 2003), and to this union were born two children, Deborah Denise and Alphonso, Jr.

Marlene enjoyed sharing that she was related to a wonderful line of entrepreneurs; she was the niece of (Ruby Camel owner of Camels Mortuary, Ethel Williamson of Williamson Tax Service. and her Uncle James Gaskin, Sr. (Director of the Denver Veterans Affairs Hospital).

She worked for the Department of Labor for 30 years retiring in 2006. Marlene was a God fearing woman and gave her life to the Lord at an early age. She was a faithful member at Shorter Community African Methodist Episcopal Church serving more than 65 years as a Church Greeter.

Marlene will be remembered by her warm smile and loving spirit that she carried
everywhere she went.

Her grandchildren and reat grand children were her “Petals of Love”. And we could never forget her DoGGGGGGGGsss!!!!! They will all truly miss her.

She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, world traveler, great cook and so much more.

Marlene T. Horn-Brown leaves to cherish her memory, Daughter - Deborah Rodgers (Pastor Wiley) Aurora,Co, Son - Alphonso Brown, Jr. (Sharon), California;


Grandchildren Ebony Lynn Trout, Aleece Christine (Joshua) Brown-Lowe, Oriana Gabrielle Brown, Greatgrandchildren Deshawn Lowe, Joshua Lowe, Jr., Saige Noelle Brown.
Special friends - Mrs. Gloria Olivia, Mrs. Ethel Pitts, Mrs. Connie Turner, Mrs. Twyla Swain, and a host of relatives, family and friends and caregivers.
