Obituary for Dorothy A. Grant

Our beloved Dorothy Novella Grant was born February 16, 1936 in Washington D.C. She was the second of eight children born to Dorothy Lee and John Judkins. "Ann" or "Ms. Ann" as she was affectionately known, was a very kind and loving person. It was in Washington DC that she received her formal education.
Family was everything to Dorothy. She married Connie Lee Grant on April 25, 1970. Dorothy's love for her husband and four children Deborah, Samantha, Thomas, and Sylvester, prompted her to move to Denver, Colorado in 1973.
She had dreams of being an elementary school teacher. Children had a special place in her heart; she babysat until she was 80 years old. Many of the children she cared for affectionately called her "Big Mama" and remained in contact with her throughout their adult lives.
On November 13, 1993, Dorothy was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her children and grandchildren credit their learning about Jehovah to her because she shared what she was learning with them. She loved going to Denver International Airport and sharing God's promises to passerby.
At Dorothy's you could always count on an encouraging word, a good laugh. a loving hug and kiss, especially over a good cup of coffee. She had a quick wit about her and a talent for singing and dancing. You could confide in Dorothy about anything and count on her keeping your confidence.
Ann was a phenomenal cook. She collected cooking pots and used them well. She worked at Home Fresh Caterers until her retirement.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Connie Lee, and son Thomas; as well as her siblings James, John, Richard, Lovetta, and Mary Ann. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Deborah, Samantha, and Slyvester. She also leaves sisters Margaret, Meta (Harvey), Evelyn, Geneva, and Elaine; and brothers Thomas (Louise) and Ralph (Dianne). Her legacy of love continues in her 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and three great-great- grandchildren, as well as a host of relatives and friends.
