Obituary for Robin Elaine Adair-Ross

On February 12th 1954 in Denver, Colorado at General Rose Hospital, a bubbly baby girl was born to Ora E. F. and Betty J. Adair. She was the second child born to this union. Robin's parents let her sister name her, she chose to name her Robin Elaine. Robin for the spring birds that symbolize renewal and new birth, and Elaine after a friend.
Robin was raised up with her sister Patricia and their brother Doyle. Robin was very close to her siblings. Coming up Robin and Doyle were a year apart and they were especially close.
Robin attended Columbine Elementary, Baker Jr. High and she graduated from Manual High School. She finished the Cosmetology course at Manual under the instruction of Mrs. Pouncy however, she never took the state board exam. Robin was hired on with Mountain Bell right out of high school. She worked for the phone company 30 years.
Robin married George H. Askew Sr. and to that union were born two sons, George H. Askew Jr. and Jefferey L. Askew. When Torian Askew was born Robin immediately accepted him as her son. He in turn accepted her as his second mother. Robin’s marriage to George was dissolved after five years. Robin was married several times. She believed in the humanity of people and she said she would marry until she got it right!
Robin united with Union Baptist Church at a young age and then united with Zion Baptist Church in 1984. She was a member of the Deaconess Ministry several years and had served as Vice President at one time. Robin knew the Lord and was a true believer serving him faithfully. Her favorite scripture was Isaiah 54:17a No weapon formed against you shall prosper.
No one was a stranger to her. She was loving and kind but don’t cross her, she could get you told easily! When her first grandchild was born she was so happy and would say to her sister,” I’m a Granny now”! It would be so funny to her when people would mistake her for her sister, she would say to them, “No I am not Pat, I am her sister Robin!" Robin loved her family she might get mad at one of them but, don’t you say anything about them. She had one daughter-in-law Delilah Askew, she was a Ruth to Robin as was Ruth to Naomi, wherever Robin went Delilah was with her. She spent her later years raising her grandchildren. They affectionately called her, Granny and she was granny to all their friends. Her nieces and nephews called her Auntie Bobby, that name was given to her by her great-niece Kayla Greathouse. Robin was very proud to be a great-grandmother when baby Joseph Hamm was born, she was so happy. Throughout life Robin walked with humility, dignity and grace, knowing that things would always work themselves out.
Robin was preceded in death by her baby daughter, father, mother, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Robin leaves to cherish her memory her sons: George H. Askew Jr. and Jefferey L. (Delilah) Askew, sister Patricia (Mittis) Chapman, brother Doyle (Renee) Adair. Grandchildren Sarah Jayne(Joseph A. Hamm) Devito, Isaiah Moses Martinez, Janasia Elaine Askew, Ciara Justine Askew, Malik Harrison Askew, Nevaeh Flores, Jayceon Lydell Askew , and great-grandson Joseph Anthony Hamm Jr., Niece Shaun M. Riley, nephews Delbert E. Worley, Calvin R. (JoAnn Armijo) Riley, Clifton E. Adair, Tyson (Larae) Adair and many great nieces, nephews, great-great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Time For Everything
“ To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance”
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them; A time to embrace and a time to refrain;
A time to search and a time to give up;
A time to keep and a time to throw away; a time to tear and a time to mend;
A time to be silent and a time to speak; a time to love and a time to hate;
A time to for war and a time for peace.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in
the hearts of men; Yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, 11
