Obituary for Frances E. Clinton

Frances Evelyn Clinton was born June 29, 1941 to Loyalty Leston and Lessie Evelyn Smith Wright in Independence, Kansas; she was the first of two children born to this union, with her brother Robert A. Wright.

Frances met James Clinton at Manual High School. They were married in Denver at St. Luke CME Church. To this union four children were born: JoAnna Marie, James Lorenzo Jr., Margaret Lynette and David Robert.

In 1972 Frances went to work for the General Services Administration as a Clerk and in 2012 she retired with 40 years of service to the Federal Government as a Contract Specialist. Frances was a member of Blacks in Government (BIG) and Black Employee Program (BEP)

Frances loved drawing, painting and coloring, she was a masterful freehand artist. She was also skilled at sewing and crocheting. An avid gardener, Frances had a green thumb. She is also remembered as a fantastic cook; she enjoyed cooking from scratch her potato salad, sweet potato pies and seafood gumbo were family favorites.

She was an avid gamer and had all of the video gaming systems and would play until her wrists hurt. Frances loved playing cards and through the years attended and hosted endless card parties. Frances had a love of music that was historic; she taught all of her children and grandchildren about music. Her collection of records, cassettes and CD's is unmatched.

Her children and grandchildren remember their mother as strong, hardworking, determined, dignified, graceful, feminine, artistic, and goofy, a prankster, loving and caring. Her friends will miss her sage advice, her tough love, long conversations and lots of laughs.

Frances is preceded in death by her husband, one child and her parents; She leaves to cherish her memory her children: JoAnna M. Clinton, James L. Clinton, Jr., Margaret Lynette Roswell and Cammie Marie Parish; grandchildren: Shantel S. Doherty, Erica Clinton, Asia Rozelle, Janae Monroe, Eric Rozelle, Jr., and Ashley Monroe; ten great grandchildren; her brother Robert (Shirley) Wright; and a host of other relatives and friends.
